Thomas Markert, attorney/ partner
DAHL Law firm, Denmark.

My time as an intern with Vogt Resnick Sherak LLP (“VRS”) was an unforgettable time. My employer DAHL Law Firm in Denmark and VRS provided me with an unique opportunity to achieve an international perspective on my nascent career as an attorney.

Immediately, I felt as part of the extremely professional team with VRS who gave me a warm welcome and a fantastic introduction to the ordinary and extraordinary tasks in an American law firm. My language and legal skills improved and the stay gave me a head start in my legal career when I returned to Denmark.

However, the best part is that the people at VRS are my trusted colleagues that I can give a referral without any hesitation and I am proud that some of them are my friends for life.

As part of our firm’s membership in the LE INTERNATIONAL, I had the opportunity to join the VOGT, RESNICK, SHERAK, LLP team for approximately 6 weeks during September – October 2016.

As part of my stay I learned the basics of California state law, I visited the Superior Court of California, attended several hearings and had the honor of meeting judges in their chambers. The experience in the “field” was invaluable to me as a litigation attorney. During my stay I was also exposed to commercial contracts, tort litigation, wills and estate planning.

Another interesting legal aspect I took part in was a deposition procedure which does not exist in Israel. Experiencing and understanding such has given me a new outlook on the legal procedure and the cross examining method we use in Israeli law. Being exposed to a different legal view and approach has been extremely educational and enriching, and I have been fortunate to be able to have implemented such in my daily legal practice.
